István Sajó graduated from the Palatine Joseph University of
Technology in Budapest in 1920. Then, at the age of twenty-three,
he travelled to Germany. He spent three years in Dortmund, working
with Hugo Steinbach, a professor of architecture, with whom he co-
designed the city bank on Hansastraße.
